I'm working on bonding with my mare. Today we kind of just played follow the leader. I'm wondering what you do with your horse to have fun that doesn't involve being in the saddle? What games do you play with your horse?
I do lots of groundwork and grooming they are really good for making a bond with your horse.
You could make obstacle courses
Take your horse for a hind walk where you haven't been before
Teach your horse some tricks like bowing (if you type into google How do you teach your horse to bow? It should come up with a step by step guide on how to teach your horse) which is the same with any trick like kissing, hugging, shaking hands etc.
You could buy a soccer ball and play soccer with your horse. You might have to teach her it's a toy and not a monster at first though.
I do a lot of groundwork and lots of grooming. It gives you a good workout, grooming!
I usually like running with my horse trotting behind (with a lead rope). Or having an egg and spoon race with other riders while leading horses. Kind of random, whatever comes to mind! What games do you play with your horse?
Have you ever seen Parelli? I love the groundwork exercises, you can find examples online. They are brilliant for building a bond with your horse :) xWhat games do you play with your horse?
i play tig with my boys .
not at the same time though i tried that once .[scarey]
i have a 16,3 tb and an arabx both are oldies but i like to take them one at a time into the arena
the first time i tried with my tb he was like wtf go away now hes like chase me chase me lol
i tig him and then get out the way he then lumbers towards you and noses you then hes off
the arab x hes fast but very playful
I tend to groom on a daily bases which is good for bonding with your horse, schooling getting horse to trust you and jumping. I taught my pony to kiss so if i put my hand up flat and do the click-click sound she kisses it with her nose. You could try join up. Do some schooling exercises like rein-back. Massage? Hope this helps
I don't have a horse. Haven't owned one for about 20 years.
